BIO The music is raw, but often their sheer enthusiasm makes it seem larger than the one guitar, two drums and a cymbal they are equipped with. Their pure, unrefined energy takes their sound, rolls it around in its mouth for a while and then spits it into your face. And you love it. Jo Finlay, A Face in The Crowd – London, EnglandMelbourne's Digger & The Pussycats are one of the city’s most exciting exports in years, having built a reputation both locally and internationally as a unique live performance that has to be seen to be believed. Combining a myriad of musical styles ranging from 60’s garage-punk right through to blues and party rock and roll, the band has won over audiences in both hemispheres through relentless touring and their prolific catalogue of releases.
After the success of their 2004 debut "Young, Tight & Alright" the boys returned with “Watch Yr Back” a follow-up that was packed with surprises that has been lauded in the press of such far-reaching places as USA, Europe, Japan and even Israel!!!. The common thread between each of the band’s recordings is that boundaries are pushed at both ends, with a good mix of melodic-yet-trashy pop songs and hard-hitting punk screamers.
This music has seen the band hit the road in a big way, having toured Europe in each of the past 4 years, amassing close to 200 shows on the continent since their first trip in 2004. With Europe now well and truly conquered, the boys have shifted their attention across the Atlantic, with the USA now firmly in their sights.
Digger & The Pussycats have been invited to play at 2 of the world’s premier garage festivals in September and October 2007: Gonerfest in Memphis and the Budget Rock Showcase in Oakland. In between these two festival dates the Pussycats will be loading up the car and storming their way across the country, taking in more than 25 shows over a 6-week period. On the way home, the boys will be stopping of in South Korea for a week of shows. Sadly their Japanese and Chinese tours have had to be postponed until 2008
You better watch out because Digger & The Pussycats are coming for yr back, yr ears and yr heart. This time round they might never come home from abroad so you better check them out while you still can. “Digger and the Pussycats are what rock’n’roll's all about: Moments of pure insanity, after which you have absolutely no fair reason for your thoughts or actions. The songs are grizzly, fuzzy two chord one-dollar specials. Can’t remember the names of any of them, but I was drunk, and so was my girlfriend – a state of mind and body befitting the night’s entertainment”.
